Putin Says Russia Has Best Nuclear Weapons
He stated that this advanced arsenal secures the nation's independence and maintains the international power equilibrium.
Putin stressed the importance of giving “special attention” to the ongoing enhancement of Russia’s nuclear triad.
The “nuclear triad” refers to the strategic combination of intercontinental ballistic missiles launched from land, submarine-launched ballistic missiles, and long-range bombers equipped to deliver nuclear warheads.
This array of systems ensures that a country's nuclear arsenal remains intact and effective even in the event of an initial, incapacitating strike by an adversary.
According to the president, “now, the share of the state-of-the-art weapon systems and equipment in our strategic nuclear forces comes to 95%,” indicating significant advancements in this sector.
He noted that Russia is achieving “good progress” in this field.
Putin further claimed that Russia currently possesses “the highest level among all of the world’s nuclear powers” in terms of advanced strategic weaponry.
This evaluation was echoed by Air Force General Anthony Cotton, the head of the US Strategic Command, who offered a similar perspective.
